    Zik 2.0

I was really looking to buy the new parrot but it seems your need data connection to use the app ? And without the app the headset is more or less useless. So sad…

    • http://www.parrot.com Parrot

Hi, you only need to create an account. That allows you to share your preset you created with other users.

      • mariquecalcus

But you need to login in to the app in order to use it right ? Meaning if you are logout for any reasons you need internet connection to login and use the app ? Am I right ?

        • Phill

No the app allows you to enhance the sound experience without using any Internet or cellular connection. Honestly, I hesitated buying these over the bose qc25 but after hearing the poor sound quality of the bose, I took the parrot zik 2.0 which is just the best sound wise. You can listen to all types of music, house, rap, hip hop, electro, rock, slow, all have the best sound. Bose was far from reaching the level of sound quality. And they are comfortable to wear. They are not that heavy.

  • Chris

I used to have a set of bose earphones which I could literally wear for the duration of a 9 hour flight without any issues. I bought the Parrot and have found that they hurt my head after a really short time. These Parrot’s are 100usd more expensive than the bose, but much less comfortable. Granted the sound is good and adjustable, but that is no good if they can not be worn

    • mariquecalcus

Thanks I don’t think I will buy them now… Thanks for the feedback.

      Thank you! :)

  • Hemanth

Audio quality is good, Noise cancellation is excellent. But casing of 3.5 MM cable supplied with the headphones is already falling off. Did not expect this from a 400$ headphones

I had great hopes when I got this headset that I wanted to use as a replacement of an old Philips one. I am using the bluetooth connectivity with my laptop (asus & windows 7).
It has been a great disapointement: the bluetooth connectivity is bad with the laptop. Both devices could pair but no sound was coming out. I tried everything as there is a lot about this on various forums: this seems to be a very well known weakness. I contacted Parrot who confirmed the lack of proper Bluetooth driver for windows.
Moreover I discovered that it was impossible to activate the noise reduction without a phone application !
I sent the headset back and still use my 30 euros Philips headset.

  • Maxime

I just received my pair of Zik 2.0 and they are perfect but the Bluetooth connection lag, it always skip for a second and sometimes up to 5’seconds and then it’s back, and that’s the same if connect to anything I own… iPhone 6 plus, iPad air, MacBook. it’s very annoying it happens every minute sometimes even more then that. Is it my headphones that are defective or you all have the same issue?

    • Tmoline

Same here so far. Is this a known issue?

  • Paul Mondieu

Terrible. Beta level product…constantly cuts out right out of the box. Customer service expects me to pay to ship them back.

Awful. Thank god I bought them from Amazon …I know it’s going to cost Parrot more for me to return them that way, but am doing it to send a message

Hi, thank you very much for your message! Enjoy your music!

  • Paalo Bisgaard

After reading through the discussion here, I have sat my eyes on the Bose QuiteComfort 25. I have done so for two main reasons:

    better noise-cancelling
not wireless (which in turn gives me longer battery life for the noise-cancelling and no worries for sound when NC is turned of)

also, it worries me that noise-cancelling can’t be turned on unless you have the app..? IS that really true?
Thanks for all your comments, Parrot: maybe next time 😉

    • shane

Do you have a phone? Of course you do. Do you carry it almost everywhere with you? Again I’m guessing yes. Then it’s one more app. But oh what an app. It doesn’t just control the noise cancellation, of which there are several modes not just on or off. It has loads of features that allow you to listen to your music in superb quality. The Parrot Zik 2’s win hands down imo they are a technical marvel.

      • Paalo Bisgaard

I’m sitting with my Bose QC 25 right now, no regrets. At all!
        ask yourself these questions:
        Does comfort matters to me?
        Is noise-cancelling a high priority?
Do i need them for other use applications beside my iphone?

        QC25 are
        lightweight (6.9 Oz – 195g compared to 9.5 Oz – 270g on Zik)
usable without battery and without an app (!)
have better noisecancelling than zik, ask any testers, Bose is an industry-leader.

Edit: Apparently you can use the Zik without an app, just not the noise-cancelling (?).

        • shane

You can use the Zik’s without an app.
I agree that the Bose QC25’s have great noise cancelling and that they are indeed lighter but I have worn my Zik’s for in excess of 12 hours in a single sitting without noticing them. They certainly sound better than the Bose, which to me is an important factor although they have a long way to go to beat my Denon 7100’s. To address the noise cancellation specifically I find that the choice of several settings is very useful and the maximum setting works across the range of my hearing not just blocking low frequency which the Bose excel at. There is a significant disparity in cost however and I feel that the Bose are certainly better value for money. Aesthetically the Ziks win for me, but that is purely a personal preference. The choice of colour is an added feature and unless you have used the app I wouldn’t dis it. It works brilliantly. The Zik’s work without the battery in passive mode just like the QC25’s The battery life hasn’t been a problem for me and I would classify myself as a heavy user. I need to charge several devices daily. I use them mostly with my Samsung S5 when I am on the go but haven’t yet used them on a plane journey. I travel to Australia fairly regularly so will let people know what I think. There are people that seem to have some Bluetooth issues but I can only comment on mine. I am connected to two phones (Samsung S3 and S5), two laptops (Dell XPS 12 and Toshiba ultrabook), a Kindle fire HDX and the car. The Bose are good but so are the Ziks.

          • Paalo Bisgaard

This. This is what discussions are all about 😉

          • shane

Exactly Paalo. Real experience and people not conned by the hype but wanting to know. Thank you Paalo, i appreciate you reading my rambling response. :)

  • Hatem Kadous

I have a major problem with the headphones not being recognised by the app unless i have to toggle Bluetooth on and off
Does anyone else have this issue?
It’s really annoying as the app doesn’t then pick anything up

@Parrot Third time I’ve asked this question and no response

Is this an app issue or a 300 pound headphone issue or Bluetooth issue

Note the headphones work while app isn’t connected but my other Bluetooth devices work without any issues

It’s BOTH versions of the ziks

A response would be great !!

Hey, where can we get spare batteries?

    • http://www.parrot.com Parrot

Hi, the spare battery will be available on March.
We will keep you update on this.

      • Altersaege

Can you please tell me which features you can use when the Zik 2 are wired? I see 3 rings on the jack, but no mic or controls on the cable. Does the Mic of the Zik work for calls also when wired? Does the touch panel work? Does the app recognize the Headphone also when wired?

      • Dario

Good day, I love this product but I don’t want to use wireless headphones since they could be dangerous for the health. Especially near the head. Is it possible to use this wonderful headphones just with the cable and disabling the wireless activity? (even better also removing the battery?). If not do you have any other product but wired? Thanks in advance.

        • Torbold

Hi Dario, this is possible. The headphones definitely work this way. Although I didn’t check the mic, neither did I remove the battery.

  • Nick McGurk

    1. How is that noise control supposed to work? Both when wired and over bluetooth, these two db numbers show the environment’s noise but the top one is like 10db higher. I think it should measure the noise the headphones make, shouldn’t it?

    2. With Active Noise Cancelling switched on, I get an extremely loud and annoying bass on my left ear when I turn my head to the left…

  • hesam ossanloo

I listen to music at least 6 hours a day. I tried headphones ranging 200-400 euros to find the one that suits me best.
So far Bose Quitecomfort 15/25 and Parrot Zik 2 are the ones that I like. Now Pros and cons:

    Cons:
    1.
It’s a bit heavy, after 2-3 hours of having them on your ears start
hurting and you have to make a break. But with Bose Quitecomfort 15/25,
you will never have this problem. You can have them for 10 hours on and
    you won’t fell a thing.
    1. The battery life of Parrot zik 2 is terrible. (at best 6 hours.with noise cancelling) vs Bose Quitecomfort 15/25 (35 hours)
    2.
The touchpad is not sensitive and responsive at all. Going to previous
or next song is almost impossible. You will pause/Play at least 5 times
until you get lucky and change it to the next or previous song.
    3. Bluetooth pairing is challenging and every time it takes quite a while until it is connected.
    4.
The on/off function is awful. I mean when ypu hit the button you expect
that you have your device turned on/off immediately. But not if you
have Parrot zik, there is always some seconds delay in between. You are
never sure if it’s on or off, Only if you have noise cancelling on/ then
you can tell if it is on/off.
    5. Expensive compare to Bose Quitecomfort 15/25.

    Pros:
    1. no cable needed vs Bose Quitecomfort 15/25 (I hate cables). If you have smart watch Bose Quitecomfort 15/25 is useless.
    2. You can still listen to music without having noise cancelling on.
    3.
When you are calling via parrot, the sound quality is very good vs Bose
Quitecomfort 15/25which the microphone is just catastrophic. The person
on the other side of the line only hears the background noise on the
street instead of your voice. Bose should work on that.

Hi, I think this is wonderful item, but the only one problem is bluetooth, I need noise cancellation all day so to have bluetooth or wifi on head all day isn’t a good thing (for the wave about health). If could be possible disable bluetooth and wifi, and it uses only with wire for me is the good solution (but only for me), but I think this isn’t what the customers want. Thanks.

  • Paul

Could I please ask you a question? I know the Bose Qc25 and the parrot Zik 2.0 have wonderful noise cancellation, but what about the sound quality, which has best sound quality?
    Thank you,

  • Paul

Which have best sound quality, the Zik 2.0 or the nose qc25?
    Thank you

  • John Mapley

I’d seriously like to see an update that allows switching between Street Mode, Noise Cancellation mode and “neither” using the touch panel on the right speaker instead of having to use the app each time. I’m not always connected to my phone via bluetooth, but frequently want to switch between these modes depending on my situation. In this respect it’s more important than, say, being able to pause music or change track from the touch pad.

Maybe an option in the app that allows you to customise the actions for gestures on the touch pad, so you can choose to have the tap gesture toggle mode instead of pause/play?

In particular, imagine getting on a plane (in many planes bluetooth needs to be switched off at all times) and realising you left the headphones in street mode, so rather than cancelling the noise of the plane they will be amplifying it into your ears for the duration of the flight.

      Thanks!

I notticed the stitching inside the earpads is very poor, i got headset repalced once after it was totally ruined and I had internal cabling inside ot, and now stiches coming of and ruining new set even though it is barely used. It is so sad to have such bad construction deffect on such expensive gadget.

  • Ray Kettle

Latest update for parrot zik headphones is no good ! Don’t do it !

    • John Mapley

      What’s the actual issue?

      • Ray Kettle

Updated iPad and you can no longer use the app ale the controls are squashed on top of each other . Luckily I didn’t do iPod .
