Following the launch of Rhythm N’ Blue and 3200 LS-COLOR, these new products received television coverage this month on the French channels TF1 News and on M6 for Turbo, an automotive “magazine†program. German viewers also received a demonstration of the two Parrot kits on ZDF 3sat during their automotive program coverage of the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show.

The advent of the new PBAP profile (Phone Book Access Profile) and the enhanced Hands-Free profile (HFP 1.5) will make life easier for drivers, not to forget manufacturers and OEMs looking to develop Bluetooth in cars.
It will now be even simpler to download the mobile’s phonebook and dial numbers automatically without needing to touch the phone. Everything will now be done via a wireless link. Furthermore, the new profiles will enable music to be streamed in the car via a Bluetooth link between the mobile and car stereo.

According to a study published by the TRG (Telematics Research Group), the GPS navigation market will practically increase tenfold over the next five years. The TRG predicts that worldwide volumes will rise from 16.7 million units to… 130.2 million in 2011! The breakdown is clearly highly beneficial to mobile navigation with 109.9 million units compared to only 20.2 million for manufacturers’ in-car systems.
Note that mobile phones will represent the vast majority of mobile GPS terminals, where phones with GPS and other smartphones will account for 97.4 million units, compared to “only” 12.5 million for vehicle-dedicated GPS. A real revolution is taking place.
